Travel Advisory - VIA trains 692 and 693 cancelled today between Churchill and Thompson due to broken rails
WINNIPEG, Jan. 18, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Pursuant to learning from Hudson Bay Railway that broken rails have rendered the rail line temporarily impassable, VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise travellers that the southbound departure of train 692, due to leave Churchill Tuesday evening, January 17, and the northbound departure of train 693, due to leave Thompson for Churchill today, have been cancelled between Churchill and Thompson only.
Service between Thompson and Winnipeg continues to operate. Southbound train 692 is now expected to leave Thompson this evening for Winnipeg, approximately seven hours late.
The next southbound departure of train 692 from Churchill to Thompson and Winnipeg will be Thursday evening, January 19. The next northbound departure of train 693 from The Pas to Churchill will be Friday morning, January 20.
VIA wishes to apologize for any inconvenience this disruption may cause to its passengers.
