Trevor Bruinix was in the news recently for collecting close to 200 signatures from neighbours, customers at local stores, schools and the YWCA to stop the closure of Ontario Place. Brunix and his grandmother, Gloria, delivered the petition to Northumberland-Quinte West MPP, Rob Milligan who then presented it to the legislature on February 28.
Bruinix will join the Ontario Place rally today to collect more signatures, distribute flyers and stickers, and encourage people to sign memory boards in a bid to save the future of the beloved provincially-operated park.
OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas said it is inspiring to see this type of motivation and determination from such a young man. "An 11-year old can see the importance and value of keeping Ontario Place open," Thomas said. "Even if those in government can't."
