KELOWNA, BC, June 2, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and CNW Group awarded Trenton Burton with the 2017 CPRS/CNW Group Student Award of Excellence. Burton was recognized during Illuminate 2017's Evening of Excellence Awards Gala on May 30 in Kelowna, B.C. Unable to accept the award in person, Burton shared his appreciation in a brief acceptance video.
"Thank you so much to CNW and CPRS for giving me this award." said Burton in his video message. "It means so much that the work I've put in throughout the last two years at Red River College in Winnipeg has paid off, and I'm so happy that it's paid off in such a big way. I'm honoured to accept this award."
Established jointly by CPRS and CNW, a CISION Company, the award recognizes student excellence in the public relations (PR) field. Program co-ordinators or instructors from public relations programs across Canada nominate student candidates. Eligible students had to be currently enrolled in their final year (or equivalent) of a recognized, full-time PR program, instructed in a Canadian post-secondary institution.
Winners receive a certificate and a $1,000 cash award from CNW. CPRS will provide Burton with a complimentary Affiliate Membership designed specifically for new practitioners entering the profession following the completion of post-secondary public relations studies.
