CIBC, #movethedial, PwC Canada and Elevate recognize TribalScale for their commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace
TORONTO, Oct. 2, 2018 /CNW/ - TribalScale was a winning organization of the Elevate Everyone Awards, presented by CIBC, PwC Canada, and #movethedial at the 2018 Elevate Tech Fest. TribalScale and six other organizations were presented with their award at CIBC & Elevate's Social event, hosted by Global News anchor, Farah Nasser, on September 26, 2018. The award celebrates their continued efforts in creating an inclusive innovation and technology community in Canada.
The Elevate Everyone Award recognizes top organizations that have proven their commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion as a means to foster and inspire innovation. The judging committee, all global executives in a range of industries, based their selection on the following criteria:
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace, evidenced by implemented strategies and active measures
- Understanding of structural inequalities and how they impact people, processes, and product, and leadership's ability to articulate this understanding
- Indication that the organization views diversity and inclusion as an ongoing effort
The award ceremony was hosted at the Northern Maverick Brewery Co. in Toronto and was attended by over 300 people, representing numerous industries and companies.
"This award celebrates our progress and ongoing effort to create a more diverse and inclusive team. For us, it's not just about hitting a quota, it's about appreciating and valuing the unique lived experiences of each individual...everyone brings something to the table," said Kirstine Stewart, TribalScale's President and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). "There's always more work to do and this award gives us the momentum and motivation to continue striving for improved diversity in all aspects."
TribalScale was cited for its numerous diversity and inclusion initiatives, including their representative leadership team and their TakeOver Innovation Conference, which mandates a gender balance among speakers. TribalScale, initially 5 founders, has quickly grown to over 230 and shows significant progress in creating balanced teams at all levels of the organization.
"We're on a mission to change how companies innovate. As we grow it's becoming more and more clear that strength comes from different backgrounds," said Sheetal Jaitly, TribalScale's Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer. "[A]nd if we're building and designing digital products that are used by millions of people everyday, we need to have a diverse team to think outside of our own context."
Earlier this year, TribalScale was named a member of the 30% Canada Club, which recognizes companies working to improve gender balance at the board, executive, and senior management levels. Throughout 2018, TribalScale made key hires -- bringing on Kirstine Stewart as President and CRO, Theresa Smith as Global Vice President of Sales, Karen Pattani-Hason as Head of Strategic Partnerships -- in an ongoing effort to improve representation at the executive level, and on the floor.
