Trilliant's Latest Smart Grid Contracts Lead to Job Creation in Granby

GRANBY, QC, Dec. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Trilliant Incorporated, a Smart Grid communications provider and leader in delivering solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations, and renewable resource integration, has won several major contracts that have led to high-tech job creation in its Granby, Quebec engineering facility. The contract with Iberdrola USA's Central Maine Power (CMP), announced in July, is a Smart Grid deployment that will cover nearly 630,000 residences and the recently announced contract with Centrica's British Gas will provide communications equipment for an initial rollout of over one million British Gas customer accounts.

The new contracts have already created new Smart Grid job opportunities in Quebec with more to follow. Trilliant's facility is Granby is a centre for highly skilled high-tech engineering positions and will continue to expand as the market opportunity for the evolving electric grid continues to occur.

The UK is an example of the growing Smart Grid market. The U.K. Department for Energy and Climate Change has set the target of having smart meters in every home by 2020 or sooner. This amounts to roughly 47 million meters at 26 million locations. Smart meters combined with a Smart Grid provide transparency into energy consumption for both utilities and consumers, helping people reduce their energy bills, reducing utility operational expenditures, all while also reducing carbon emissions nationwide.

The CMP and British Gas contracts provide direct benefits to the Montérégie region by creating jobs as well as by helping to develop a centre of innovation in the coveted Smart Grid high-tech industry.
