MONTREAL, May 14, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - TRIOTECH, a world leader in the multimedia interactive attractions industry, is proud to announce the inauguration of Voyage to the Iron Reef, an impressive Interactive Dark Ride attraction for the Knott's Berry Farm theme park in Los Angeles, California, owned by the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. Designed and produced in Montreal, this new ride is TRIOTECH's most complex yet. It required some 10 months of work and mobilized a team of more than 50 people.
« Los Angeles is the epicenter of the entertainment world, so it's quite an accomplishment for TRIOTECH to install our technology and our design in the city that is home to not only Cedar Fair, but also Disney and Universal to name but these two », said Ernest Yale, President and CEO of TRIOTECH.
Passengers who climb aboard the four-seat vehicles for Voyage to the Iron Reef will have to use their freeze-guns to protect the theme park from scary underwater creatures that eat the steel from the rides and threaten to destroy Knott's Berry Farm. TRIOTECH worked with Cedar Fair's California team to develop the scenario and the universes, but was responsible for the interactive content, special effects and projections, as well as the integration of the project. Voyage to the Iron Reef will open its doors to visitors on May 15 and will be fun for people of all ages. The entire underwater voyage lasts 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
This agreement with U.S. based Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, which operates amusement parks, is the largest contract in TRIOTECH's history. This is the second time that TRIOTECH has worked with Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, which also owns Canada's Wonderland, where TRIOTECH designed and installed the Wonder Mountain Guardian attraction last May. That attraction won two major awards, namely the Brass Ring Award for the best new product and the Impact Award, given to the attraction that will have the greatest impact on the future of the industry.
« Voyage to the Iron Reef is an incredible and innovative attraction that Knott's Berry Farm's guests will want to ride over and over. Our collaboration with TRIOTECH resulted in a visually stunning and highly interactive ride that's unlike anything else in the park. », said Raffi Kaprelyan, vice president and general manager of Knott's Berry Farm.
Cedar Fair Entertainment is a leader in the amusement park industry with close to a dozen locations in North America.
TRIOTECH has over 100 employees, including 3D, animation and software development specialists, engineers and other contributors in Montreal and in Joliette.
The Voyage to the Iron Reef attraction is a centrepiece among TRIOTECH's major achievements over the past year. The company recently set up two other Interactive Dark Ride attractions, one at the Hello Kitty Park in Shanghai, China, and the other in Istanbul, Turkey. TRIOTECH is also working on other confidential large-scale projects not only in the United States, but also in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
