Triple Crown Enterprises Ltd. awarded civil construction for ArcelorMittal Dofasco's new Temper Mill
HAMILTON, ON, Feb. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - Triple Crown Enterprises Ltd. ("TCE") has been awarded the civil construction for the foundation requirements of the process equipment at ArcelorMittal Dofasco's new Temper Mill. TCE's responsibility includes the general layout, demolition, excavation, formwork, and the pouring of concrete used in the various foundations.
The new Temper Mill will replace two existing mills and is part of ArcelorMittal Dofasco's Finishing Optimization Project. The Temper Mill will be capable of processing high yield and tensile strength products of varying thicknesses and is designed to produce 742,000 tons per annum. Tempering provides the mechanical properties, thickness and the surface texture of the steel.
"We are pleased to be a part of this very important project. Given this is a brownfield construction site, we will have some challenges to overcome in ensuring the project is successful. We will leverage our knowledge from the recently completed foundation installation at the No. 6 Galvanizing Line, also at ArcelorMittal Dofasco, which had very similar constructability issues that were successfully resolved," said John Ng, President of TCE. "TCE is very proud to service this very important steel producer and community partner."
