Winner and Charities, Right to Play, Els For Autism Foundation and Jays Care Foundation, share $100,000
TORONTO, June 1, 2016 /CNW/ - Trivia For Good™, the free-to-play app that encourages contestants to "Play For a Purpose", has awarded its first $100,000 prize to Joyce Adam, age 52, a resident of Vancouver. The cheque presentation ceremony to the winner and the associated charities occurred at Rogers Centre in Toronto on May 31st just prior to the Jays' game against the New York Yankees.
The first contest, which ran from May 16 to May 19, 2016, involved players downloading the free app and then participating in Trivia For Good's™ bi-weekly trivia contests.
"It's just unbelievable and I'm so excited!" said Adam. "I've been on cloud-nine since I found out," she continued. "I love children's charities and I love sports. Most of all, I love to give back and that's what drew me to this contest. I wouldn't have just signed up for any contest, but the fact that Trivia For Good™ has such a generous charitable component is one of the main reasons that I wanted to play."
Trivia For Good's™ intent is to "unleash a phenomenon of kindness," according to CEO, Steven Glaser. By partnering with charities such as Right to Play, Els For Autism and Jay's Care, Trivia For Good™ provides a financial windfall for lucky winners and impacts the lives of individuals around the globe.
Adam plans to use her winnings to go on vacation as well as to help her elderly parents. "My parents are in their eighties and I'm grateful that they're as well as they are, but they do need some assistance," she says. "The more I can help them, the better."
Trivia For Good™ is a free, fun and easy-to-play contest that is gaining interest across Canada with new players downloading the app from the Google Play store daily. Each contest is comprised of a "Clue Week" and a "Game Week".
During "Clue Week," players have an opportunity to watch the videos as often as they like to prepare for "Game Week". Each Sunday following a contest the winner is revealed and awarded $80,000 with an additional $20,000 going to charity.
"This first prize award is just the beginning of bigger and more expansive plans for participants," said Glaser, "We will increase prize pools to USD$1,000,000 per contest as Trivia For Good™ expands to a global audience. Larger prizes and more generous donations centred around the Olympic games are planned for later this summer."
Trivia For Good's™ unique business proposition guarantees advertising partners that content is being viewed by a real audience and not programmed bots or fake viewers. "It is a revolutionary approach to digital advertising that ensures views and demographic analysis but also links contestants to sales activation for our sponsor advertisers," said Glaser. "Our approach is not only cost effective, it is unprecedented in the digital mobile ad industry."
Participants are incented to watch the videos and pay close attention because the more they study the details the better their odds to correctly answer the questions the fastest in order to win.
Adam's supports this contention: "The clues were very relevant and made me extremely aware of the brands that were behind the content. I watched every single video as they came in, usually two or three times each. The game really made me pay attention and, because of that, I was able to answer the questions correctly and ultimately win an incredible prize."
Contestants over 18 are eligible to play and win by downloading the app from the Google Play Store or, alternatively, registering to play at www.triviaforgood.com. The IOS version will be available in the iTunes App Store on June 20th.
