Troy Life & Fire Safety Ltd to Receive Fire Safety Award
TORONTO, June 16, 2014 /CNW/ - Troy Life & Fire Safety Ltd. will receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony on June 19, 2014 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
When the Meaford & District Fire Department decided to stage a live, side-by-side sprinkler demonstration at their Fire Prevention Week open house, Troy Life & Fire Safety Ltd. generously donated the system components and installation, free of charge. However, the fire department encountered difficulties in acquiring the funds to build the burn cells and were faced with having to cancel the demonstration.
Hearing of their plight, Troy Life & Fire Safety offered to cover all of the construction expenses so the demonstration could go ahead as planned. When unforeseen staffing constraints challenged the build, Troy Life & Fire Safety arranged for the delivery of a side-by-side burn trailer, just in time for the open house. Working late into the evening hours, Troy Life & Fire Safety staff set up the burn trailer for the demonstration, the following day.
The open house was a great success, with over 500 people attending the event.
"There is nothing better than a real-time simulation to demonstrate the effectiveness of smoke alarms and sprinklers in a live fire situation," said Ted Wieclawek, Chair, Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council. "In addition to the demonstration, Troy Life & Fire Safety also provided a booth where visitors could engage with staff, ask questions and obtain fire safety information to take home."
