Trump Hotel forces cancellation of suite auction at the hotel
TORONTO, Sept. 17, 2013 /CNW/ - Ritchies Auction House has been forced to cancel their Sunday September 22nd hotel suite auction in the Trump Hotel Ballroom.
"I received a call from Mickael Damelincourt the GM of the Trump Hotel saying I could not hold the auction on Trump property late Monday afternoon" says Kashif Khan Managing Director of Ritchies "but that's not going to stop the auction from happening!"
Ritchies auctioneers vow to uphold their rights and will be holding the auction offsite at Ritchies Auction Warehouse 777 Richmond St West.
Although agreements were made, permission granted and contracts signed the Trump Hotel seems to be reacting to the media coverage surrounding the upcoming event.
"I specifically asked hotel staff if they were ok with the auction of the unit and the media attention it would bring" adds Kashif "They said they would love it and gave Ritchies their blessing"
The five star million dollar suite has received a lot of media attention. The exclusive property offers 950 square foot of the ultimate in luxury living; elegant furnishings, exquisite top-of-the-line finishes, spectacular city views and of course five-star hotel services all managed by the prestigious Trump Hotel Collection.
"We are offering a once in a lifetime chance" states Mr. Khan "this property is exquisite with the greatest detail given to every inch of the suite"
The owner is also auctioning the contents of the unit, including a $400,000 collection of one of a kind Patek Philippe watches, two rare Faberge eggs, a 5ct fine round brilliant cut diamond, an art collection valued at over $100,000, and fine Persian carpets. He is also taking bids on a 2013 Bentley continental GT convertible.
The media and public viewing of the suite has now been cancelled.
"I told the GM we have already advertised and reached out to clients based on the go ahead of the staff" says Kashif "He didn't have any remorse or sense of accountability for the potential loss Ritchies will now have to take on. Legal action could be our next step"
The show will go on at Ritchies this Sunday September 22nd with viewing of the content items from 11am-2pm and the auction at 2pm sharp.
Just as with all Ritchies' auctions, everything will be sold to the highest bidder. Bids will be accepted at the auction site, or by placing proxy bids in person or by phone.
