MISSISSAUGA, ON, Aug. 29, 2014 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) and the Toronto Subaru Club (TSC) were pleased to welcome over 500 enthusiasts at the 11th Annual TSC Hyper Meeting, held on Sunday, August 17. Each year, the annual Hyper Meeting raises funds for Ronald McDonald House Toronto (RMH). This year, the TSC raised a total of $18,000 for the House, an amount matched by Subaru Canada for a grand total of $36,000.
As the largest event of its kind anywhere in Canada, the Hyper Meeting began with a colourful parade of Subaru vehicles, representing an array of models, years and accessories. This year's family-friendly event offered an on-site barbecue, photo booth and an inflatable money machine with Subaru Bucks redeemable for Subaru merchandise. Various games, face painting, coloring contest and mini r/c cars entertained the younger generation of Subaru lovers. For the second year in a row, AutoGuide road test editor Mike Schlee and Derek Serianni of the Toronto Subaru Club acted as master of ceremonies. As a new feature for 2014, live music by Grand Line was performed throughout the event.
"This event isn't just about the cars, it's also about giving back to the community," said Shiro Ohta, chairman, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. "In keeping with tradition, Subaru Canada has matched the Toronto Subaru Club's fundraising efforts dollar-for-dollar in support of this very worthwhile cause."
Ronald McDonald House Toronto (RMH Toronto) provides a "home away from home" for seriously ill children and their families. RMH Toronto is a place for families to heal better together, both in the 81-family capacity House in downtown Toronto and through the Family Room Program that provides families with a medical-free space within a hospital to rest and retreat, while steps away from their ill child. Since 1981, the facility has been host to thousands of families in need of a comfortable atmosphere of compassion and understanding during a frightening and stressful time of their lives. Support from events like the TSC Hyper Meeting will help RMH Toronto provide families of seriously ill children with a safe and comfortable place to stay that is just steps from the hospital where their child is undergoing life-saving medical treatment.
As the single largest enthusiast club of its kind with over 8,000 members, the Toronto Subaru Club (TSC) is a group of Subaru enthusiasts from Toronto and its surrounding areas. This community-oriented club hosts many events and meets as a way to socialize and mingle. Many of its events benefit its dedicated charity of choice, RMH Toronto.
