TVOKids host Gisèle brings reading to life for preschoolers in Richmond Hill August 25
- The first 90 children will receive a free book
TORONTO, Aug. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Richmond Hill preschoolers and their families are invited to share the magic of reading with TVOKids host Gisèle, star of TVO's early-learning program block Gisèle's Big Backyard. The Read with Gisèle Tour will visit the Richmond Hill Central Public Library on Saturday August 25 at 2 pm (address listed below).
The first 90 children at the reading will receive a free book, book bag and bookmark. Gisèle will read the book Stanley's Little Sister, written by Linda Bailey and illustrated by Bill Slavin. It tells the story of Stanley the dog, who must learn how to make friends with his new cat "sister" who doesn't understand dog talk. After the reading, kids will have a chance to meet Gisèle and have her autograph their book.
The Read with Gisèle Tour showcases Gisèle reading the book of the month from her Big Backyard Book Club at libraries across the province, in an effort to inspire children and their families to read every day. As Ontario's most trusted and most educational media brand for kids, TVOKids is proud to partner with presenting sponsor TD Bank Group and with the Ontario Library Association on this tour.
"I'm looking forward to sharing a new book with families in Richmond Hill. Reading aloud with children is a great way to develop their early literacy skills, so I hope the Read with Gisèle tour will inspire kids and their families to enjoy reading together every day," says Gisèle.
Preschoolers can watch the Book Club on TVO and participate in the club online at tvokids.com, where children can watch videos of Gisèle reviewing books and see kids answering questions about the stories, share feedback on how the stories made them feel, and submit their own reviews of books they have read.
Read with Gisèle events are free and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis as seating is limited. Below are the details for Richmond Hill's event:
