TVOKids host Gisèle returns to Ottawa and Nepean libraries for more reading fun July 28
• The first 100 children will receive a free book
TORONTO, July 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Preschoolers and their families in Ottawa and Nepean will be treated to a summer reading visit from TVOKids host Gisèle for the second year in a row. The star of TVO's early learning program block Gisèle's Big Backyard brings her Read with Gisèle Tour to two branches of the Ottawa Public Library on Saturday July 28 (venues and times listed below). Last year's popular events saw over 800 people turn out to share the magic of reading with Gisèle and get her autograph.
"I'm thrilled to be returning to the Ottawa area libraries for more reading fun this year! It's clear that Ottawa families have a love of reading and I look forward to sharing a new book with them," says Gisèle. "Reading aloud with children is a fun way to improve their early literacy skills and I hope the Read with Gisèle tour will inspire families to spend some quality time reading together every day."
The first 100 children at the readings will receive a free book, book bag and bookmark. Gisèle will read Gifts, written by Jo Ellen Bogart and illustrated by Barbara Reid. In Gifts, a grandmother travels the world and brings her granddaughter the gifts of love and respect for different places and people around the world. After the reading, kids will have a chance to meet Gisèle and have her autograph their book.
The Read with Gisèle Tour showcases Gisèle reading the book of the month from her Big Backyard Book Club at libraries across the province, in an effort to inspire children and their families to read every day. As Ontario's most trusted and most educational media brand for kids, TVOKids is proud to partner with presenting sponsor TD Bank Group and with the Ontario Library Association on this tour.
Preschoolers can watch the Book Club on TVO and participate in the club online at tvokids.com, where children can watch videos of Gisèle reviewing books and see kids answering questions about the stories, share feedback on how the stories made them feel, and submit their own reviews of books they have read.
Read with Gisèle events are free and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis as seating is limited. Below are the details for the Ottawa and Nepean events:
