TVOKids hosts Kara and Drew get moving to celebrate Canada Day at Queen's Park on Sunday, July 1
TORONTO, June 29, 2012 /CNW/ - As part of the Canada Day celebration at Queen's Park, TVOKids invites families to get active with TVOKids hosts Kara and Drew from The Space with a free interactive stage show at 1:25 pm on Sunday, July 1 (full details listed below.) The high-energy show encourages kids to stay physically and mentally active over the summer.
Families can dance and sing along with Kara and Drew as they perform popular TVOKids songs, practice cool dance moves and play games with the audience. Kara and Drew will highlight the importance of keeping an active mind with a performance of the "Reading Rangers Free" song, which teaches kids about the fun of reading and encourages them to visit their local library.
As Ontario's educational media organization, TVO plays an active role in developing kids' literacy skills and recognizes the impact of physical activity on children's success in school. As Canada's most trusted and most educational children's media brand, TVO is a longtime champion of getting kids school-ready and physically active through curriculum-based television programs, online activities, and in-community events.
"We are thrilled to be participating in this year's Queen's Park Canada Day Celebrations," says Patricia Ellingson, Creative Head of Children's Media. "Aside from being fun for the entire family, the TVOKids Canada Day performance also encourages kids to lead a healthy lifestyle and promotes the importance of reading, both of which are critical skills for successful learning."
Families can also pick up free copies of the new guides Doing Mathematics with Your Child, Kindergarten to Grade 6 and Reading and Writing with Your Child, Kindergarten to Grade 6. These Ontario Government guides encourage parents to stay focused on literacy and math during the summer, with suggested TVOKids activities for all learning levels.
