TVOKids' The Reading Rangers hit the road to share the joy of reading with kids across Ontario
TORONTO, Aug. 4, 2015 /CNW/ - Giddyup! TVOKids' The Reading Rangers (Rangers Kara, Daniel and Melissa) are hitting the road, visiting towns across Ontario to share their love of reading.
Proudly supported by TD Bank Group, The Reading Rangers Book Club Tour kicks off on Sunday, September 20 at the Telling Tales Festival in Rockton. The Reading Rangers will be reading a book from The Reading Rangers Book Club, in addition to the TD-selected Grade One book Mr. Zinger's Hat, by Cary Fagan. The Rangers will be taking turns throughout the tour, with one Ranger attending each tour stop at eight locations across Ontario, to inspire a love of reading in kids across the province.
Geared towards kids aged six to 11 and their families, each tour stop offers attendees an opportunity to share in the love of reading and meet with, as well as get an autograph from, a Reading Ranger. During the event, there will also be some exciting learning-focused activities onsite provided by TVO and/or the local public library. Each kid in attendance will also receive a complimentary TVOKids gift bag.
"Reading is a critical step in the learning journey and thanks to the ongoing support of TD Bank Group, we are able to bring TVO's The Reading Rangers off the screen and into local communities across Ontario," said Marney Malabar, Director, Kids TV, TVO. "As a learning organization, we believe that this tour is a fun-filled and engaging way to inspire children and get them excited about reading."
"It's important to get children reading from an early age and nurture this essential life skill," said Alan Convery, Director, Community Relations, TD Bank Group. "We are passionate about inspiring a joy for reading and are proud to support a program that helps kids learn in a creative and interactive way."
