TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin is Ontario's source of in-depth Ontario Election coverage
TORONTO, May 14, 2014 /CNW/ - With the 2014 Ontario election campaign underway, TVO's flagship current affairs program The Agenda with Steve Paikin provides in-depth analysis and debate every day, on-air and online, of the issues that matter most to Ontarians with Your Vote 2014.
Weeknights at 8 and 11 pm until election day, The Agenda welcomes candidates, policy experts, and political commentators to discuss the parties, the platforms and the complex issues shaping the provincial election. The Agenda's coverage will include one-on-one interviews with Ontario Premier and Liberal leader Kathleen Wynne, Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak, NDP leader Andrea Horwath, and Green Party leader Mike Schreiner, who will discuss their parties' platforms.
In the weeks leading up to voting day, The Agenda's coverage will explore specific issues related to different regions across the province, and will also talk to young voters and new Ontarians on where they stand on healthcare, education, infrastructure, transportation, jobs and the economy, and energy.
Online at theagenda.tvo.org, citizens are engaged in the democratic process through insightful blogs by Steve Paikin, curated Twitter feeds of the latest news from the campaigns, and interviews with members of minor parties. Ontarians can also visit theagenda.tvo.org to track where the leaders of the major parties are on the campaign trail. As well, all of The Agenda's discussions and debates will be available online.
On June 12, a special edition of The Agenda will have live election coverage from 8 pm. In the first hour of the program, Steve and guests will provide insight and analysis of the election campaigns. Once the polls close The Agenda will report on up-to-the minute election results until the premier-elect's speech. Guests for the evening include:
- Dwight Duncan, Senior Strategic Advisor for McMillan LLP and former Liberal Deputy Premier and Finance Minister
- Chris Stockwell, Principal at Stockwell Consulting and former Progressive Conservative cabinet minister
- Joanne Deer, Director of Strategic and Client Services at NOW Communications, and former Director of Communications for the Ontario NDP
- Katherine Acheson, Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo and former Campaign Chair of the Ontario Green Party
"The Agenda with Steve Paikin is the destination for Ontarians who are looking for in-depth analysis of the issues that are shaping the provincial election," says Lisa de Wilde, TVO's Chief Executive Officer.
