TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin now streaming on Twitter
TORONTO, Jan. 16, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, TVO announced that it is the first media organization in Canada to offer nightly Periscope streaming on Twitter. TVO's flagship current affairs program, The Agenda with Steve Paikin, is now available to watch on Twitter @TheAgenda every evening at 8 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.
"TVO's aim has always been to provide something you can't get anywhere else – an oasis of calm, informed discussion in a world that's getting noisier," said John Ferri, Vice President, Current Affairs and Documentaries. "The Agenda with Steve Paikin is a source for intelligent conversation and in-depth exploration of the big issues that affect us. More than ever, we need serious journalism to find our way and decode our complex world. TVO has to be where audiences are, and we're excited to explore this opportunity with Twitter."
The Agenda with Steve Paikin is Ontario's most-watched, all-current affairs program. It engages Ontarians in an absorbing and insightful manner, sharing a full range of perspectives through the medium of their choosing: on-air, online at TVO.org and now in real time on Twitter.
Streaming via Periscope on Twitter is a natural evolution to extend The Agenda experience to include more participative interaction. By harnessing the power of Twitter, TVO is engaging audiences with smart content and conversation, delivering in-depth, high-quality journalism. As the province's digital public space, TVO is proud to contribute to building a stronger, more informed Ontario.
"In our increasingly 'mobile first' world, Periscope offers media organizations a great opportunity to reach viewers through video, anywhere, anytime," says Jennifer Hollett, Head of News, Twitter Canada. "The appetite for original video content on Twitter has grown immensely in recent months and we look forward to working with the TVO team on this exciting Canadian first."
For more than 45 years, TVO has built a reputation for helping to unleash the potential of all Ontarians through continued innovation. Today, TVO's educational, current affairs and documentary content reaches millions of Ontarians online and on-air, helping to improve civic engagement, education and understanding of the world.
