MONTREAL, May 27, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Yesterday, thousands of people - young and old, in wheelchairs and on foot - gathered across Quebec to take part in the 20th MS Walk, organized by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
The MS Walk: 20 years of walking together!
Held in 21 regions of the province, the MS Walk is a joyful event that builds community spirit and allows people with MS and their families to experience some unforgettable moments! Thanks to the efforts of all the participants, volunteers and donors, more than $1,290,000 was raised this year, and more than $15.5 million since this annual event started.
"We must attribute this success to our participants' generosity and engagement, and to the exemplary support of our partners such as GENZYME - a sanofi company, the presenting sponsor of the 20th MS Walk. We were able to count on the participation of the GENZYME team, which was composed of 200 participants across Quebec", said Louis Adam, Executive Director of the Quebec Division of the MS Society.
Debbie Lynch-White, provincial spokesperson of the MS Walk, was in Montreal for the occasion: "My father has lived with the daily problems caused by multiple sclerosis for almost ten years. The time I've spent with him has made me a stronger person, and now I want to use this strength on behalf of all the people who have to live with this disease. It was very moving for me to take part in my first MS Walk and to see Quebecers walking in their communities so that, together, we can beat MS!"
