MASCOUCHE, QC, July 28, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - As part of its participation in the Nissan Micra Cup during the 46th edition of the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix (July 31 to August 8, 2015), the Groupe ALBI le Géant announced that two star drivers are now part of its team for this race: Antoine Bessette and Elvis Stojko. Both drivers will join Olivier Pelletier and Marc-Antoine Demers on the ALBI team.
A former Canadian figure skater, three-time world champion, and double silver medalist at the Olympics in Lillehammer and Nagano, Elvis Stojko retired from skating competition in 2002 and has since become interested in motor racing. He started racing karts in Mexico and participated in the Rotax DD2 Master race with the Maranello factory team.
"I'm really very happy to participate in the Nissan Micra Cup at the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix. I am honored to have been invited to this fantastic event, which will allow me to prove myself before the Quebec fans. The cars look to be fun to drive and the competition is high. Thanks to Albi Nissan, Nissan Canada and the promoters of the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix for giving me this unique opportunity," said Elvis Stojko.
An experienced professional driver who distinguished himself on the international scene since 2000, and the recipient of both the Gilles Villeneuve and the Canadian Champion Race Driver Awards in 2005, Antoine Bessette is making a return to racing after a break of several years. The ALBI team is glad to benefit from the talents of this skilled driver.
"My passion for racing has never left me, and I always intended to come back under the right circumstances, which is what the Groupe ALBI is allowing me to do today. I am very happy to be part of this team and I am inspired by the passion and determination that the Groupe ALBI demonstrates. Also, the level of competition of the Nissan Micra Cup is very interesting and I like the fact that this is a series of equal cars and low cost of operations. This kind of series attracts many good drivers, so the races are very tight and provide quite a show," said Antoine Bessette.
"The quality and professionalism of the drivers who are part of the ALBI team are truly exceptional, embodying the values that we convey in our work every day. I'm really excited about the Nissan Micra race and I hope our loyal customers will have the opportunity to come and see us at the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix and enjoy the talents of our outstanding team," said Denis Leclerc, President of the Groupe ALBI le Géant.
ALBI le Géant's team will be on the track on August 1 and 2nd at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières with their Nissan Micra: stock cars, affordable and fun to drive! Come to see us!
