TWO SOLDIERS INJURED IN A LIVE-FIRE INCIDENT
CFB WAINWRIGHT, AB, Aug. 31 /CNW Telbec/ - Two soldiers were injured in a live-fire training exercise at CFB Wainwright on August 30th.
The two soldiers were immediately evacuated by airlift to hospital in Edmonton and are listed in stable condition.
The soldiers are members of 1er Bataillon, Royal 22e Régiment. The next of kin have been notified. The identity of the soldiers and the nature and extent of their injuries will not be revealed as they are protected under the Privacy Act.
A military police investigation is on-going surrounding the circumstances of the incident. No further information will be disclosed at this time.
More than 3500 soldiers are currently training in Wainwright participating in Exercise REFLEXE RAPIDE. This exercise is one of the last steps in preparation for Task Force 3-10's fall deployment to Afghanistan.
