BURNABY, BC, July 28, 2015 /CNW/ - The Telecommunications Workers Union, United Steelworkers National Local 1944 Unit 60, after six months of negotiations and extended bargaining, have reached a tentative agreement with Shaw Cable.
"I am pleased our bargaining committee has reached a tentative agreement with Shaw. I wish to thank the members of Unit 60 for their support and solidarity for our bargaining committee who worked tirelessly to reach this deal," said Lee Riggs, President of the TWU, USW National Local 1944.
Unit 60 represents over 500 members across the Lower Mainland who have been without a collective agreement since March 23, 2015.
Full details of the tentative collective agreement will be sent to the members of Unit 60 along with details of the upcoming ratification meeting.
Highlights of the agreement include:
- wage increases in each year of the three-year agreement
- improvements to sickness and disability benefits
- other enhancements that will encourage stability within the industry
"The Unit 60 bargaining team endorses the agreement and encourages members to support its ratification. This agreement shows that we truly are stronger together," added Riggs.
