TORONTO, Oct. 29, 2015 /CNW/ - UBI Global, an international benchmarking organization, and Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) will reveal North America's top performing academic business incubators and accelerators for 2015 next week.
Based out of Sweden, UBI Global has become an international standard for benchmarking of this kind. Their regional ranking system is in place in North and South America, Asia Pacific, Africa and Europe. Each year they also release a top 25 list for the world.
This year, 10 incubators and five accelerators from Canada and the U.S. are being recognized along with two high impact incubation programs. Five of the top 10 incubators are Canadian with three from Ontario. Of the top five accelerators, two are Canadian with one from Ontario.
The release of the rankings is part of a two-day forum that brings together the incubation community to network, learn from each other and improve their performance in order to enhance the economic transformation and the local, national and regional development.
Academic-based entrepreneurship programs are an expanding focus around the world with Ontario's Campus Linked Accelerator and On-Campus Entrepreneurship programs on the leading edge. Both programs are managed by Ontario Centres of Excellence.
