UBM Canon Commemorates Patriot Day with Veteran Focused Presentation
Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs will Speak at Midwest Advanced Manufacturing Expo
SANTA MONICA, CA, Sept. 10, 2013 /CNW/ - Erica Borggren, Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs will present "The Case for Hiring Veterans." The presentation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 1:00pm to 1:30pm at McCormick Place Lakeside in Chicago.
The presentation will give employers an inside look at the benefits of hiring veterans in the manufacturing industry. After serving our country, veterans have high unemployment rates despite their many employable traits. Veterans learn quickly, work hard, respect their coworkers and are positive team members. They also have a GI bill that allows them to train in a new industry, including the manufacturing industry that is struggling to locate trainable and qualified workers.
Borggren will present on the tradeshow floor at UBM Canon's Midwest Advanced Manufacturing Expo. The event will provide Chicago area manufacturers a comprehensive tradeshow and professional development conference. The three day exposition and conference will be held September 10-12, 2013.
Other educational presentations on the expo floor include 3D printing, re-shoring of manufacturing through robotics, a panel of what is new in robotics, and teardowns of products including the new Galaxy S4 and all-new Nexus 7.
Admission to the expo hall including its educational content is free for qualified industry professionals with pre-registration. More information on the tradeshow can be located here.
