-Tax Software Leader to Donate $1 for Every Return Filed on April 22nd -
MONTRÉAL, April 12, 2016 /CNW/ - Thomson Reuters DT Tax and Accounting Inc., makers of UFile tax software, is pleased to announce its official sponsorship of Earth Day Canada. As the first ever online tax software to be certified by the Canada Revenue Agency's (CRA) NETFILE electronic tax filing service, millions of federal and Quebec tax returns for personal and corporate tax have been filed electronically using UFile. A simple and streamlined alternative to mailing a paper return, these electronic returns represent the conservation of an untold number of trees; a perfect example of how the choices we make every day can impact the planet in a big way. To support Earth Day Canada in its 25th Anniversary Campaign Rooting for Trees, a campaign to boost the global commitment to plant 7.8 billion trees by 2020 and encourage Canadians to reduce their carbon footprint, UFile will donate $1 for every tax return filed electronically using its online software on Earth Day, April 22, 2016.
"At UFile, we are grateful for the trust that our customers put in our products but are also happy for the opportunity to work with them to have a positive impact on our environment," says Eric Neveu, Vice President, Professional and Customer Software & Services." As part of our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, we are also committed to further reducing our use of packaging for our retail products."
Celebrated annually on April 22, Earth Day is the largest environmental event in the world. On this day, while global leaders meet in New York to sign the new international climate agreement, Canadians are being asked to pledge to "Make Earth Day Every Day and reduce my carbon footprint" by signing the 25th Anniversary Earth Day Flag. With more than 250,000 signatures to-date from people across the country, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the goal is to collect 1 million signatures by the end of Earth Day 2016. As a proud sponsor, UFile is encouraging Canadians to pledge their commitment to carbon reduction by visiting its website – www.ufile.ca - and adding their signature to the Earth Flag which will be unveiled on April 22.
