UL Warns of Counterfeit UL Mark on Appliance Wiring Material
PUBLIC NOTICE
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Dec. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - The following is a notification from UL to manufacturers and retailers that the Appliance Wiring Material (AWM) identified below bears a counterfeit UL Mark. The AWM has not been evaluated by UL to the appropriate Standards for Safety and it is unknown if this AWM complies with UL's safety requirements.
The counterfeit AWM is similar to AWM that is authorized to bear the UL Mark. AWM that is authorized to bear the UL Mark is provided with a label on the reel with the language "APPLIANCE WIRING MATERIAL", "ISSUE NO. XXXXXX" and the length of AWM on the reel. The AWM that is not authorized to bear the UL Mark is not provided with a label on the reel with these markings.

Identification: The counterfeit AWM is surface printed as follows:

The reel or smallest packaging of counterfeit AWM is not provided with the label described above.
Sold at: Known to be sold at Electronic City Market in ShaJing Shenzhen City, China and may have been sold by other retailers.
