UL Warns of Pressure Reducing Devices With Unauthorized UL and ULC Marks
</pre> <p>NORTHBROOK, Ill., <span class="xn-chron">March 25</span> /CNW/ -- Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is notifying distributors, fire departments, regulatory agencies and authorities having jurisdiction that the pressure reducing device, identified below, bears an unauthorized UL Mark for the <span class="xn-location">United States</span> and an unauthorized ULC Mark for <span class="xn-location">Canada</span>.</p> <p/> <p>The pressure reducing device is marked with the UL and ULC Mark, "A55," "Fire Hose Valve" and "618R," however, they were not produced by the UL authorized manufacturer, Giacomini SPA.</p> <p/> <p>This product has not been evaluated by UL to the appropriate standards for safety for the <span class="xn-location">United States</span> and <span class="xn-location">Canada</span> and is not authorized to bear the UL or ULC Mark. The unauthorized pressure reducing device utilizes markings cast into the valve body similar to Giacomini SPA's UL and ULC Listed fire hose valves. </pre> <p> </p> <pre> The unauthorized pressure reducing devices do not have a date code for the year of manufacture cast into the bonnet of the device. </pre> <p> </p> <pre> The unauthorized pressure reducing devices have incorrect indicating scale range embossed on the valve stem caps.
