UL Warns of Stolen Holographic Labels and of Potentially Hazardous Decorative Lighting String (Release Nos. 13PN-16 and 13PN-16A)
NORTHBROOK, Ill., May 31, 2013 /CNW/ - The following is a notification from UL to consumers, retailers, and distributors that UL Holographic labels with the UL Mark for Canada, identified below, have been reported stolen. These labels were found on a Decorative Lighting String that may pose a fire or shock hazard. The decorative lighting string does not comply with Canadian safety requirements and is not authorized to bear any UL Mark.

UL Warns of Stolen Holographic Labels
The UL Holographic Labels identified below were reported stolen from an authorized manufacturer. Products bearing these unauthorized holographic labels have not been evaluated by UL for safety and it is unknown if products bearing these labels comply with any safety standards. Some of the unauthorized labels have been found on potentially hazardous decorative lighting strings identified in Public Notice Release No.13PN-16A
Quantity: Approximately 400,000 labels.
Identification: The issue number identifies the labels that were reported stolen. Labels with the following issue numbers were reported stolen: T-3,650, T-3,651, T-3,652. T-3,653, T-3654, T-4,191, T-4,192 and T-4,193.

UL Warns of Potentially Hazardous Decorative Lighting String
The decorative lighting string identified below may pose a fire or shock hazard. The Decorative Lighting String bears a Holographic Label with the UL Mark for Canada. The Holographic labels were reported stolen. The decorative lighting string does not comply with UL's safety requirements and is not authorized to bear the UL Mark. Refer to Public Notice Release No. 13PN-16 for information on the labels that were reported stolen.
Name of Product: Decorative Lighting Strings, Holiday Light Bulbs – 10 pc Set
Hazard: The decorative lighting string is missing required flame retardant elements and employs plated steel conductors which may pose a risk of fire or electric shock.
