Ulnooweg Atlantic Aboriginal Entrepreneur Awards Show Announces 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient - Charlie Morris, Eskasoni First Nation, NS
TRURO, NS, Sept. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Ulnooweg Development Group Inc. is pleased to announce that Charlie Morris, owner of the Eskasoni Trading Post located in Eskasoni First Nation, Nova Scotia will be the recipient of the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award. This most prestigious award recognizes and acknowledges not only the entrepreneurial spirit of the individual, but the overall contribution made to society, especially to the Aboriginal community.
This award is given to an entrepreneur who has been in business for over thirty years and has demonstrated commitment to their community through social and economic contributions as a business entrepreneur. Winners of this award are especially commendable. When they began their business ventures, entrepreneurship- especially among aboriginal people - was not valued and supported like it is today. Most often, they started their business based on a need for the community. Start up costs, economic lulls, and other factors had to be overcome without a great deal of assistance. These entrepreneurs are not only committed to their business, but have also built firm economic support for their families and communities.
As the hosts of this event, Ulnooweg welcomes the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the success of Aboriginal businesses in Atlantic Canada along with our Silver Fox sponsorships , the Province of Nova Scotia and Bell Aliant's new Channel One. We believe that celebrating these accomplishments together is an integral part of the process of building a stronger economy for future generations.
The event is also made possible with financial assistance of $85,638 from the Government of Canada, through Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
The Lifetime Achievement Award honors those who not only have outstanding success, but also have demonstrated a selfless business venture preserving and celebrating their Aboriginal values and traditions while ensuring entire community benefits. Their evolving business approach never gets in the way of their traditional values and concern for the betterment of the Aboriginal Nation. Their success and dedication is incomparable. Charlie Morris of Eskasoni Trading Post exemplifies all the qualities and values of -one who stands among the long list of Lifetime Achievers. Congratulations Charlie Morris!
