TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Ultima Foods is proud to launch, across the country, its all new iögo 0% yogurt with stevia extract, a 100% natural origin calorie-free sweetener. This innovation on the Canadian yogurt market arrives barely one year after the remarkable launch of the iögo brand.
A iögo innovation
Created and developed from the desire to continually innovate and offer Canadian consumers more choice, iögo 0% with stevia extract is free of fat, gelatin, colours and artificial flavours. With a small amount of cane sugar and only 50 calories per 100-g container, iögo 0% with stevia extract is part of the iögo 0% product line. It comes in the flavours of raspberry, blueberry, vanilla and mango-passion fruit
"One year after its remarkable entry into the Canadian market, iögo is innovating yet again with the launch of a new yogurt with stevia extract. Canadians have adopted iögo, and this iögomania that has unfurled across the country has forced us, as a company, to do even better and surpass ourselves to continually create products tailored to consumers' tastes and needs," stated Mr. Gerry Doutre, President and CEO of Ultima Foods.
"By using all-natural, calorie-free stevia extract in its new line of iögo yogurts, Ultima Foods is offering consumers yet another delicious and healthy food choice. iögo 0% with stevia extract is part of the iögo 0% product line, and it enhances the range of products for people looking to decrease their intake of carbohydrates and fat," explained Patricia Chuey, dietitian.
Stevia extract
Stevia extract is a 100% natural origin calorie-free sweetener made from the leaves of the stevia plant (Stevia rebaudiana). Its manufacturing process is the same as for natural flavours. Known first as the "sweet herb", stevia is a native plant of Paraguay, South America. For centuries, people have traditionally grown, harvested and used the leaves of this plant to naturally sweeten their herbal teas or foods. It is 200 to 300 times sweeter than white sugar. When used in very small quantities, stevia extract can replace a portion of the sugar generally used in food products.
Available now
The new iögo 0% with stevia extract is available now in most Canadian supermarkets in multi-packs of 16 x 100-g containers in raspberry, blueberry, vanilla and mango-passion fruit flavours. The suggested retail price of the multi-packs of iögo 0% with stevia extract is the same as for other 16 x 100-g multi-packs in the iögo 0% product line between $7.99 and $8.99. Prices are subject to change without notice and may vary depending on the grocery store chain and province.
