Driver receives top prize for a year following his season win
WOODBRIDGE, ON, Oct.16, 2015 /CNW/ - Now in its fifth year of competition, the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin is still going strong. The two classes of Porsche GT3 Cup cars provided fans and drivers alike with great racing and epic Championship battles that were contested to the very end at the final weekend event for 2015 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Veteran Chris Green emerged as the Platinum Cup winner of the 2015 Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin.
In addition to his trophy, Platinum Cup champion Chris Green took home a new Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, which he will have the pleasure of driving for one year, courtesy of Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. President and CEO Alexander Pollich was present to officially hand the keys to him.
"The Porsche 911 is an iconic sports car which has proven its abilities on-road and on-track for over 50 years," said Pollich. "I am happy to offer our season's winner the opportunity to now extend his experience with a 911 on a daily basis for the next year. Congratulations to Chris Green on an outstanding season."
"It's not exaggerating to say that Porsche has been in my blood since I was born - my father was, and is, a Porsche race car technician, and I grew up trackside watching Porsche race cars compete and win through my childhood," said Chris Green. "Racing and winning in the Canadian GT3 Cup Challenge was the realization of a lifelong dream, and to represent the series in this beautiful new 911 makes me immensely proud."
Green first joined the series in 2012 and soon found his home with Pfaff Motorsports. Competition was fierce this season with Daniel Morad of Alegra/Porsche Centre Oakville Motorsports finishing just five points behind in the standings. Last year's overall winner, Scott Hargrove with OpenRoad Racing, took the third spot with 158 points.
