Unannounced OSPCA Inspection of Marineland - May 15, 2014
NIAGARA FALLS, ON, May 16, 2014 /CNW/ - Yesterday Marineland welcomed the first regular surprise inspection by the new Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) zoo inspectors, as part of the new framework for monitoring of animal care developed with the Government of Ontario, the OSPCA and Canada's Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA-AZAC).
A three member zoo inspection team from the OSPCA were provided full access to all the animals cared for at Marineland and conducted a thorough and professional inspection.
Marineland is pleased to report that no issues of concern were identified and the inspection was successful. All of our animals are well taken care of and healthy.
Over seven hundred people from our local community are employed at Marineland throughout the season. They take great pride and care in the care and treatment of our wonderful animals. The results of this inspection are due to their hard work and tireless commitment to animal care.
We look forward to enjoying the season ahead with all our guests safe in the knowledge that all of our animals are healthy and well taken care of.
Marineland remains committed to continuing to work with the Government of Ontario, the OSPCA and CAZA-AZAC to ensure that the high standards of animal care and treatment at Marineland are maintained and continually developed and enhanced.
