Unauthorized "Altimate Fat Burner Maximum Burn" being sold at a second Ontario retail location

OTTAWA, March 12, 2015 /CNW/ - Following Health Canada's advisory regarding "Altimate Fat Burner Maximum Burn" being sold by Nature's Source in Vaughan, Ont., the Department received a complaint about the product also being sold at Nature's Source, 2391 Trafalgar Rd., Unit #6 in Oakville, Ont.

Altimate Fat Burner Maximum Burn is an unauthorized health product labelled to contain DHEA, yohimbe, caffeine and ephedrine. The risks associated with these substances are detailed in the February 13, 2015, advisory.

The complainant reported an adverse reaction after using "Altimate Fat Burner Maximum Burn" that had been purchased at the Nature's Source Oakville location. Health Canada inspectors visited the retail location and confirmed that the product is no longer available for sale. Health Canada will take appropriate action and inform Canadians if this product is found elsewhere on the Canadian market.

Consumers who have purchased "Altimate Fat Burner Maximum Burn" from either of the Nature's Source locations identified or elsewhere should consult with their doctor if they have used these products and have health concerns.

Health Canada would also like to remind consumers to read the label of the products they buy to verify that they have been assessed by Health Canada for safety, effectiveness and quality. Health products that have been authorized for sale by Health Canada will have an eight-digit Drug Identification Number (DIN), a Natural Product Number (NPN) or a Homeopathic Medicine Number (DIN-HM) on the label.
