Under Armour and the Toronto Maple Leafs Announce 2017 "Storm The Centre" Competition
BANTAM HOCKEY TEAMS HAVE THE CHANCE TO WORK, LEARN AND TRAIN LIKE THE PROS
TORONTO, Oct. 5, 2017 /CNW/ - Experiencing what it's like to play for the most storied franchise in the NHL and your hometown team is something all young hockey players dream of, but very few achieve. Under Armour's Storm The Centre competition has been making those dreams a reality for Bantam Hockey teams in Toronto for four years, giving them the chance to work, learn and train like the pros and play a game on the same ice as their idols. Starting today, Bantam teams in the GTA can register and compete to earn the right to Storm The Centre and "Be the Leafs" for a day.
New this year, teams will not only need to showcase their skills but also prove through online and social media content why they are the strongest, most determined and motivated team in Toronto. Over the course of the seven-week competition, Bantam hockey teams will submit highlight videos that showcase why they deserve to Storm The Centre.
"It takes more than skill to make it to the big leagues; it takes heart, will and determination," says Jon Irwin, Senior Director, Commercial Strategy, Under Armour Canada. "The top two teams will win a spot in the Armour Cup, where they will "Be the Leafs" for a day. This will be a full day of training and professional treatment capped off with a regulation game at Air Canada Centre."
Registration on Mapleleafs.com/stormthecentre is now open for the competition. Teams have seven weeks to upload content to chapters on the website to tell their team's story. Throughout the competition, teams will be asked to submit photo and video content such as players doing trick shots, pre-game rituals and goal celebrations. The more content that teams put in each chapter, the better chance the team has at winning. The top two teams who tell their team story best will be chosen to go to the Armour Cup, a chance to live like the pros and "Be the Leafs" for a day. This will be a full day of training and professional treatment capped off with a game at Air Canada Centre. Rules and Regulations for the competition can be found here.
The Storm The Centre competition is also running in Edmonton and Montreal where youth teams have the chance to play a game at Rogers Place in Edmonton or the Bell Centre in Montreal.
