Unibroue still proudly among the Best Brewers in the World!
Unibroue brings back three gold and two bronze medals from the 2013 World Beer Awards
CHAMBLY, QC, Oct. 1, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - It is indeed with great pride that Unibroue upholds its reputation for exceptional quality, reaping three gold medals at one of the world's most important beer competitions, the World Beer Awards in England. The Quebec-based brewery's Seigneuriale was declared World's Best Belgian Style Ale; Quatre-Centième received gold for World's Best Belgian Style Blonde; and Éphémère Pomme was deemed World's Best Fruit Flavoured Beer. In addition, La Fin du Monde and Blanche the Chambly were both awarded bronze medals for The Americas, in their respective categories.
"I brew Unibroue's beers with passion, and I never hesitate to mix a variety of ingredients to create flavourful beers that will stand out in the beer universe," says Jerry Vietz, Unibroue's master brewer. "Originality and quality are the key drivers behind the development of any Unibroue beer. Receiving these five world class awards is a great honour."
After a blind tasting of premium beers from around the world, Seigneuriale was described as follows: "Orange and honey on the nose. Honeyed flavour with a peachy sweetness on the palate. Lots of ripe bananas. Slight peppery hops. Alcohol sweetness starts to kick in. Very warming." Quatre-Centième impressed the judges, who summarized their impressions as "Pineapple on the nose. Quite caramelly, with lemon, orange and a bit of spice. Good fruity taste, well balanced with sweet and sour notes." Éphémère Pomme, for its part, had the judges raving: "Candy sweet aroma, slightly medicinal. Apple and rhubarb, pear and peach. Like being in a sweet shop. Good balance between bitter and sour. Warming."
From its very first competition over 20 years ago, and every year since, Unibroue has stepped up to the podium among the best beers in the world, in numerous international events. Its continuing success can be attributed to the consistent quality and constant innovation consumers have come to expect from this Quebec brewery. Unibroue is one of the most rewarded Canadian breweries at the World Beer Awards.
