Union Gas Adjusts Customer Rates Effective April 1, 2017
Increase due to rising North American natural gas prices
CHATHAM, ON, March 23, 2017 /CNW/ - Union Gas announced today that it has received approval from the Ontario Energy Board to change the rates its customers will pay for natural gas effective April 1, 2017.
Residential customers in North West Ontario who purchase natural gas from Union Gas will see an annual net increase of about $50 which represents an increase of about 5.3 percent of their natural gas bill and customers in North East Ontario will see an annual net increase of about $41 which represents an increase of about 3.9 percent. Residential customers in Southern Ontario who purchase natural gas from Union Gas will see an annual net increase of about $20 which represents an increase of 2.5 per cent.
"It's important to note that overall, natural gas remains the most affordable and reliable clean-energy solution over the long-term for homes and businesses," remarked Jim Redford, vice-president, business development, storage and transmission, Union Gas.
Union Gas adjusts customer rates quarterly to reflect changes in the market price of natural gas supplies, which are passed through to customers without mark-up. For more information on natural gas rates, watch the following videos.
