CHATHAM, ON, June 28, 2017 /CNW/ - Union Gas has received approval from the Ontario Energy Board to adjust its customer rates for natural gas effective July 1, 2017.

- North West Ontario – a decrease of $0.14 a month (-$2 a year), or about -0.2 per cent of the total natural gas bill.
These rate changes mean the average annual bill for a residential household is between $862 and $1,130 depending on location; (South: $863, North West: $992; North East: $1,131). To view current rate information by postal code, visit uniongas.com/residentialrates.
"Because natural gas is a commodity, the market price can fluctuate with changes in the amount of readily available supply or in the level of demand for the product," says Jim Redford, vice-president, business development, storage and transmission, Union Gas. "Over the long term however, the price our customers pay has declined and is lower today than 10 years ago."
While customer prices are adjusted every three months without mark-up to reflect changes in the market price of natural gas supplies, the cost of heating a home and hot water with natural gas remains significantly lower than electricity, oil or propane.
