Union Gas gives back to Brantford through record-breaking United Way campaign

Employee donations and company matching dollars total more than $30,644

BRANTFORD, ON, Nov. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - An annual employee fundraising campaign at Union Gas has raised more than $30,644, the largest donation to Brant United Way in the company's 100-year history.

"I continue to be inspired by the enthusiasm and generosity that Union Gas employees and retirees demonstrate year after year during our United Way fundraising campaign," said Sharon Johnston, Union Gas manager of contact centre operations. "We're proud of our longstanding history with Brantford and Brant County and I can't think of a better way to express our thanks than by being able to provide this record-breaking gift to United Way."

The Union Gas campaign is led by a dedicated and enthusiastic group of volunteers and all individual employee and retiree donations made during this campaign are matched dollar for dollar by Union Gas' parent company, Spectra Energy - doubling the community benefit.

"We are grateful to Union Gas, its employees, members of CUPE 1000 and retirees for their donations to our annual fundraising campaign," said Kristin Pass, executive director of Brant United Way. "Together their contributions will get us closer to our historic goal to deepen our funding of social service agencies in our local community.  It is the support of many that is the strength of United Way.  United we can make a difference."

For over 100 years, Union Gas has been privileged to work in more than 400 Ontario communities.
