Union Gas Helps Dawn-Euphemia Fire Department Upgrade Pumper
$3,000 grant will outfit truck with two state-of-the-art water nozzles
RUTHERFORD, ON, March 5, 2013 /CNW/ - Union Gas is helping the Dawn-Euphemia Volunteer Fire Department upgrade its pumper truck with two new high-efficiency water nozzles, courtesy of a $3,000 grant.
Dave Lamoureux, director of storage and transmission operations for Union Gas, presented the cheque today to Mayor Bill Bilton and Fire Chief David Williams at the Dawn-Euphemia Council Chambers in Rutherford.
"A passionate commitment to safety is central to our business culture and operations. It's one of our core values, and part of everything we do, from ensuring our pipeline system is in safe operating condition at all times, to supporting important safety initiatives in the communities we serve," said Lamoureux. "That's why we are so pleased to support the Dawn-Euphemia Volunteer Fire Department and the work they do to safeguard and improve the safety of citizens in this community."
The new nozzles, which will allow firefighters to vary the rate of water flow, are replacing nozzles that could only be turned on or off. The ability to vary flow will significantly reduce the amount of water used and give firefighters more control over the water applied when fighting fires.
"The Dawn-Euphemia Fire Department is very pleased that Union Gas is helping to support safety initiatives in the township by recognizing and supporting the fire safety services that our volunteer fire department provides," said Williams.
Over the past 100 years, Union Gas has been privileged to work in more than 400 Ontario communities.
