Union Gas helps Junior Achievement build future entrepreneurs
$2,500 grant for Junior Achievement London and District programs
LONDON, ON, July 22, 2013 /CNW/ - Union Gas is helping Junior Achievement inspire and educate local youth to succeed in the global economy, courtesy of a $2,500 grant awarded today.
Dave Craven, Union Gas director of distribution fieldwork services for London/Sarnia presented the cheque to Bev Robinson, president & CEO of Junior Achievement of London and District today at the organization's office in London.
JA London and District reaches over 6,000 students annually teaching students about the principles and dynamics of business through hands-on activities and open dialogue with volunteers from the business community.
"Our youth are our greatest resource and tomorrow's leaders," said Craven. "We're proud to continue our support of Junior Achievement's education programs, which will help young people in London and Middlesex understand business, economics, and develop leadership and financial literacy skills to help them succeed."
"This year Junior Achievement of London and District is thrilled to be celebrating our 50th Anniversary and is very proud of being a recognized leader in the delivery of business education programs for elementary and secondary school students," said Robinson. "We are extremely grateful to Union Gas for their financial support as it makes a great impact and helps to build a solid foundation for the future business leaders of our community."
In addition to natural gas delivery services for homes and businesses and contributing to the province's economy through investment, job creation, municipal taxes and energy efficiency programs, Union Gas has a clear set of best practices regarding the environment and actively encourages and promotes those practices via community groups throughout its distribution area. This value is reflected each year, as the company supports communities across Ontario through thousands of volunteer hours for local charitable and non-profit organizations, major charitable giving and sponsorships. Last year alone, Union Gas contributed about $3 million to charitable organizations across the province, including environmental programs and projects.
