Union Gas helps Red Lake Fire and Rescue Service enhance training
$2,500 grant for emergency training materials
BALMERTOWN, ON, Nov. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Union Gas is helping Red Lake Fire and Rescue Service with a $2,500 grant to purchase emergency training materials which will be used by the volunteer fire department to maintain and enhance emergency services within the Municipality of Red Lake.
Duane Harris, Union Gas utility services manager for Kenora presented the cheque to Walter Scarrow, Red Lake Fire and Rescue Service Fire Chief and Municipality of Red Lake Council members at the Municipal office in Balmertown, today.
"As a company, our focus on safety doesn't end with the workday. We believe in investing in programs that will help make our communities safer 24/7," said Harris. "That's why we make it a priority to support our first responders, which will help make Red Lake a safer community."
"Red Lake Fire and Rescue Service is proud to partner with Union Gas to help increase the level of training in our volunteer fire department," said Scarrow. "We would like to thank Union Gas for this generous donation and their shared commitment to the safety of our community."
In addition to natural gas delivery services for homes and businesses and contributing to the province's economy through investment, job creation, municipal taxes and energy efficiency programs, Union Gas has a clear set of best practices regarding the environment and actively encourages and promotes those practices via community groups throughout its distribution area. This value is reflected each year, as the company supports communities across Ontario through thousands of volunteer hours for local charitable and non-profit organizations, major charitable giving and sponsorships. Last year alone, Union Gas contributed about $3 million to charitable organizations across the province, including environmental programs and projects.
