Union Gas supports purchase of fire safety equipment
$2,500 grant to Black-River Matheson Fire Department for atmospheric monitoring equipment
MATHESON, ON, Oct. 15, 2014 /CNW/ - Union Gas is helping Black-River Matheson Fire Department improve community safety through the purchase of atmospheric monitoring equipment, through a $2,500 grant.
Paul Dambremont, Union Gas assistant support manager, presented the cheque to Black-River Matheson Fire Department fire chief, Guy Lamb today at the fire hall during a training event with volunteer firefighters.
Black River-Matheson Fire Department responds to carbon monoxide calls within the Municipality. Having state of the art equipment, will allow them to investigate carbon monoxide calls and give the occupants the most accurate information. The atmospheric monitor with multiple sensors will also provide the emergency responders with information required to carry out the investigation safely. They will be able to monitor oxygen levels, carbon monoxide levels, hydrogen sulphide levels and determine when the situation is near harmful levels.
"At Union Gas, we are committed to the safety of our employees and our communities," said Dambremont. "We show that commitment by investing in local fire departments whose fire prevention, education and fire suppression programs help us all stay safer."
"Black River-Matheson Fire Department is proud to protect and serve our community, the new state of the art equipment will help keep our firefighters and our community safe," said Lamb. "We are very pleased to receive this generous donation from Union Gas."
