Union Gas supports the annual Children's Hero Awards
$3,500 grant to The Children's Safety Village of Brant
BRANTFORD, ON, May 10, 2014 /CNW/ - Union Gas is helping The Children's Safety Village of Brant recognize young safety heroes in the community, as well as enhance safety education, through a $3,500 grant awarded today.
Andrea Tayler-Coombs, Union Gas contact centre manager and Sharon Johnston, manager of contact centre operations for Brantford presented the cheque to Crystal Glaves, president, and Lisa Roddie, executive director of The Children's Safety Village of Brant, just prior to the award ceremony today at the Safety Village.
The Children's Hero Awards are an opportunity to recognize children in the community who have performed a heroic act or who have performed at a level that is beyond expectations, while contributing to a safer community. Students were nominated by teachers, parents, members of the community, police, fire and emergency medical services personnel.
"At Union Gas, safety governs everything we do, whether we are building a pipeline or installing a gas meter at your home. We want each and every one of our employees to return home safely at the end of every day," said Tayler-Coombs. "Because of our safety culture, we make it a priority to support important and much-needed programs like this one, which is recognizing our young community safety heroes."
"It is through the generous ongoing support of companies like Union Gas, who understand the importance of Safety Education that the Children Safety Village of Brant can be successful," said Roddie. "We are extremely grateful for Union Gas' support so we can continue to teach important safety lessons and in turn save lives."
