Union requests first cruise ship of the season to bypass Sydney port
HALIFAX, May 1, 2014 /CNW/ - Gerard Bradbury, International Transport Workers' Federation Inspector (ITF\Unifor) commented today on a matter affecting Unifor Local 4624 Stevedores in Sydney, NS.
Bradbury stated, "I have been in contact with Nautilus the union in the Netherlands representing workers on the MS Veendam, the first cruise ship of the season to call on the Port of Sydney on May 7, 2014."
Inspector Bradbury asked the union in the Netherlands to contact Holland America Lines to make them aware of the situation at the Port in Sydney and ask the Company to respect the rights of the dismissed Unifor workers and to bypass the port on this occasion until the dispute is settled.
