MONTRÉAL, Jan. 31, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - For the 63rd consecutive year the United Irish Societies of Montreal is organizing a Selection Evening to choose a queen and four princesses to reign over North America's longest consecutively held St. Patrick's Parade.
Originally a popularity contest whose winner was selected through crowd applause the Selection Evening today is a public speaking event open to single women of Irish descent living in the Montreal that is judged by a panel of seven distinguished judges. The guests will also be entertained with song, dance, and comedy.
The evening begins at 7PM with formalities where this year's Grand Marshal and Chief Reviewing Officer will be introduced to the community, continuing with the public speaking and entertainment. Results will be announced sometime between 10:30 and 11:00pm.
