SEATTLE, WA, Sept. 30 /CNW/ - MicroPlanet, (MP:TSXV & MCTYF:OTC) a smart grid energy conservation company announced today that it has been awarded a United States Government Services Administration ("GSA") contract. MicroPlanet products are now listed on the GSA website, GSAdvantage, and are available to all U.S. government purchasing agents at a preferred price.
The GSA is an independent agency of the United States government established to help manage and support the basic functioning of federal agencies, including the procurement of products. The contract permits the listing of MicroPlanet products on the GSA website, which allows any purchasing agent within the U.S. federal government seeking smart grid/energy-saving devices to purchase MicroPlanet products using a streamlined process.
This streamlined GSA procurement vehicle provides a significant opportunity for MicroPlanet to reduce the time required by U.S. federal government customers in obtaining its products. To obtain GSA qualification, MicroPlanet submitted to a rigorous application and review process in order to prove its compliance with strict standards within the U.S. government energy efficiency market.
Brett Ironside, CEO & President of MicroPlanet, commented, "The GSA contract provides MicroPlanet with a strong sales channel into a rapidly growing sector within the United States federal government. Our placement on the GSA website is a testament to the robust nature of MicroPlanet products and our ability to deliver energy conservation and power quality improvements."
The MicroPlanet products listed on the GSA website will include devices targeted to non-mission critical, on-base commercial and residential applications. Ironside continues, "The United States government is committed to energy conservation, and reducing the nation's reliance on fossil fuels and their resulting greenhouse gas emissions. MicroPlanet products can make strong contributions towards these objectives, using equipment manufactured with American labor. The GSA schedule will enable us to penetrate this market quickly and efficiently."
MicroPlanet has delivered smart grid voltage management systems to over 20 utilities worldwide.
Non-Brokered Private Placement
The Company also announced plans to complete a non-brokered private placement. The Company intends to raise between C$1,000,000 and C$1,500,000 in equity capital at C$.10 per share of the Company's common stock.
