MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 5, 2017 /CNW/ - United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd., Canada's leading moving company, named Dan Lawrence President, effective as of September 1st, 2017. As President, Lawrence will have the responsibility for the Company's five operating divisions under the corporate group MoverOne Group – United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd., Mayflower Canada, MoverOne International, Univan Leasing Ltd. and MoverOne Logistics. He will report directly to the Board of Directors.
Lawrence, a 30 year veteran at United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd., began his career at the Company after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University. Since 2008, Lawrence served as Vice-President of Finance assuming financial responsibility for United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd. and its subsidiary leasing company, Univan Leasing Ltd. His responsibilities included oversight of the Directors of Finance and Accounting, Customer Care, Information Technology and Federal Government Services.
When the Company applied for its ISO 9000 quality certification in 1996, Lawrence played an integral part in developing the systems and management strategies to make the program a success. He continued to lead the ISO program for five years.

Reporting to Lawrence will be executives Dave Hitchon, Vice-President of Operations; Carmen Stang, Director of Marketing and Corporate Services; Jeanne Rah, Director of Information Technology; Jason Hounsell, Director of Customer Care; Catherine Chan, Director of Finance; Huw Jones, General Manager of MoverOne International; Marlene Lobelio, Director of Member/Board Services; Pat Marino, Manager of Univan Leasing Ltd.

Concurrent to Lawrence's appointment, Anne Martin, President of United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd., will retire after a distinguished 35 year career at the Company with 18 years as President. Martin will stay with the Company to ensure a smooth transition until the end of the year. Further, she will serve as an adviser to the Company and Board of Directors on key strategic initiatives for two years following.
Under Martin's leadership, United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd. became up to 100 percent Canadian-owned business and recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies with a Platinum designation. Additionally, Martin introduced the international division, MoverOne International, to the Company's portfolio and launched Mayflower in Canada.
