TORONTO, Feb. 23, 2017 /CNW/ - First Asset Canadian Convertible Debenture Fund and First Asset Canadian Dividend Opportunity Fund II (the "Funds") announce that their respective unitholders have approved the merger of the Funds into the mutual fund shown opposite each Fund's name in the table below (the "Mergers").

The Funds' manager, First Asset Investment Management Inc., expects that the Mergers will be implemented in March 2017.  A further press release will be issued confirming the exact date of the Mergers.  In connection with the Mergers, unitholders of each Fund will receive, on a tax-deferred basis, Class A units (Initial Sales Charge) of the applicable continuing fund.  There will not be an initial sales charge associated with the Mergers.
