OTTAWA, Aug. 25, 2015 /CNW/ - All descendants of the very first travellers to arrive to these shores, of those first brave souls are members of Canada's Founding Families. Many perished within days or weeks of their arrival. Some arrived as indentured servants, labourers or apprentices. For many it was the kindness of our First Nations, Métis and Inuit families, who helped our ancestors, learn how to cope, to feed themselves and survive our very difficult winters that made their survival possible.
For all who have an ancestor that was on these lands prior to July 1st 1867, you and your family are members of Canada's Founding Families.
We understand our numbers (conservatively) to be between 14 to 18 million Canadians.
Our goal: |
To unite us all. |
Our motto: |
To protect, preserve and further our history and heritage. |
You will find on the pages of our site many links which you will find helpful in tracing your roots. Speak with some of the older members of your family; you might be surprised at just how much they already know. Or perhaps, make it a family project and work together discovering your family's history.
You do not have to have completed the research before joining. It will be a while before we will have the database ready but we can start discussing which projects we want to start on right away. We will need many volunteers and eventually full time employees to help make this all possible.
Please join us today and let's start to Protect, preserve and further our history and heritage; for all who came before and for all that will come after.
