Université de Montréal's School of Industrial Relations walks away with first prize at Excalibur, the Canadian university tournament in human resources Français
MONTREAL, March 19, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - On March 17, after two days of competition, Université de Montréal's School of Industrial Relations walked away with first prize at the 26th edition of Excalibur, the Canadian university tournament in human resources. Twenty-five universities, including nine from Quebec, took part in the event.
The winning team, made up of Stephany Beaudry, Elisabeth Corbeil, Érika Dion and accompanied by coach Émilie Genein, bested competitors from six Canadian provinces. The team particularly shone in the final event with its accurate analysis of a real business case involving dairy products manufacturer Liberté. It proposed a realistic action plan appropriately attuned to the organization's culture. The team won a $3,000 scholarship offered by the Fondation de l'Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés.
"Excalibur provides an extraordinary opportunity for students to test their knowledge in a setting resembling the real business world. It is also an occasion for the Ordre to showcase the potential of the upcoming generation of human resources and industrial relations professionals among employers in Quebec and the rest of Canada," pointed out Florent Francoeur, CHRP, Ordre president and CEO.
Concordia University's John Molson School of Business takes second prize
The team from Concordia University's John Molson School of Business, made up of Alana Des Coeurs, Isabella Matteo, Catherine Richard and coached by Aaron Dresner, was awarded the second prize, a $2,250 scholarship offered by the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés.
The third prize, a scholarship of $1,500 donated by Adecco, was won by the team from Wilfrid Laurier University, composed of Julia Bowen, Daniel Figueroa and Vaiseekan Srithayakumar, and accompanied by coach D'Arcy Delamere.

Excalibur, an event that brings together the entire Canadian human resources community
Excalibur is the only tournament organized by practitioners for future human resources and industrial relations professionals. It is an opportunity for all Canadian universities offering human resources or industrial relations programs to compete in a stimulating and challenging environment. After completing five events, participants were assessed by over 40 jury members from Canadian organizations and the academic community. Organized by the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés, the Excalibur tournament brings together students, professors and business people from all across Canada.
