Universum ranking shows EY Canada workplace innovation resonating with students
Canadian university and college students identify firm as employer of choice
TORONTO, Sept. 13, 2018 /CNW/ - EY Canada remains the most attractive employer among Canadian university and college students in the areas that matter most to them, according to the 2018 Universum Canadian Student Survey launched today.
EY claimed the top spot and distanced itself from competitors among business students for innovation, inspiring purpose, corporate social responsibility and corporate transparency. Innovation alone increased by 38% over 2017 – 25% above the competitor average.
"We're delighted to know our commitment to building truly exceptional career experiences is resonating with students across Canada," says Stephen Shea, EY Canada's Managing Partner, Talent. "A strong teaming culture that offers endless growth opportunities is the foundation that enables our people to excel – and help us deliver on the opportunities that build a better working world."
The survey shows employment opportunities with leaders who support their development, professional training and development, a friendly work environment and a clear path for advancement are four of the most attractive employer attributes for Canadian business students – who ranked EY #1 for each.
"Workplace innovation is critically important, and we're proud to be on the cutting edge of new programs and technologies that provide robust professional development opportunities for our people," says Shea. "Our focus is on providing everyone with an experience that lasts a lifetime – no matter when you join us or how long you stay with EY."
This commitment is also playing a role in attracting a broader spectrum of talent to EY. The firm rose in ranking among engineering and IT students (41 in 2018, up from 58 in 2017). Meanwhile, business students ranked EY #1 in Accounting and #2 in Business for the fifth consecutive year.
"The nature of our business is changing," says Shea. "We're looking for high performing, team-oriented professionals who want to build their careers in any one of the many professional services with which we serve our clients. As our workforce continues to evolve, so must the way we support them. It's a never-ending, yet always exciting, journey to be on."
The Universum ranking comes on the heels of EY being named one of the best workplaces in Canada for 2018 by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada.
